Expand your sharpening services beyond beauty shears and clipper blades with the MediEdger, a precision flat-hone attachment designed for sharpening small dental, medical, surgical, veterinary, and specialty instruments.

The MediEdger mounts to the Scimech HD and provides a controlled working platform for sharpening small instruments that can be difficult to hold consistently by hand. Its guides help the sharpener maintain a repeatable angle while the compact abrasive wheel allows access to narrow, curved, and delicate working edges.

The system was developed for instruments such as dental curettes, scalers, elevators, surgical scissors, suture scissors, bandage scissors, and other small clinical tools. Early testing has also shown promising results on smaller cuticle and manicure nippers.

Because instrument designs vary, proper inspection, training, and practice are essential before sharpening customer instruments.

Built for the Scimech HD

The MediEdger is currently designed for use with the Scimech HD flat-hone sharpening machine.

The Scimech HD is not included and is sold separately.

The attachment may require some assembly and includes specialized components for positioning and sharpening different types of instruments. Future guides and attachments may be developed as additional instruments are tested.

Training Recommended

Sharpening dental and medical instruments requires more than simply restoring a visible edge. Correct angles, instrument identification, edge shape, finishing, and testing all matter.

We strongly recommend training and practice on inexpensive instruments before offering professional sharpening services.

What Is Included

The MediEdger package includes:

1. MediEdger attachment plate
   Mounts to the magnetic side of the Scimech HD and holds the small abrasive disc assembly.
2. Diamond abrasive sharpening disc
   Used for sharpening dental instruments and other small precision tools.
3. MediEdger base
   Supports the Scimech HD and provides the mounting area for the angle guides.
4. Dental instrument angle guide
   Helps position curettes, scalers, elevators, excavators, and similar dental instruments at a controlled angle.
5. 0-degree edge guide
   Designed for selected bandage scissors, suture scissors, and some small nippers.
6. 5-degree edge guide
   Designed for sharpening selected surgical scissors and other small scissors requiring a slight edge angle. Also can be used with some manicure tools. 
7. 15-degree edge guide
   Designed for sharpening selected surgical scissors and other small scissors requiring a sharper edge angle. Also can be used with some knives.
8. MediEdger instruction and demonstration videos
   Includes access to introductory setup and sharpening demonstrations.

Scimech HD sharpening machine is not included and is sold separately. The MediEdger is currently designed for use with the Scimech HD only.
